A New Humanity in Christ

In this passage, Paul turns the corner from the largely doctrinal to the largely practical. In light of who Jesus is and what He has done, how then shall we live? But rather than giving us license to sin or laws to perform, Paul centers our motivation on the gracious, saving work of Jesus and the new humanity He is bringing about. Secure in our life with Him, we are to acknowledge our new humanity with gratitude, take off all that is not part of it, and put on what is part of it, that we might be a picture of the life to come.
