Hypocrisy and Rebellion Confronted

In this section of Mark, Jesus overturns the trap that the religious leaders have laid for him and exposes their own hypocrisy. But he doesn't stop there. He tells them a parable that presents them as continuing a long tradition of rebellion against God. These confrontations are important steps that move him closer to the cross--the very place where the judgment and forgiveness of such rebellion is accomplished.
